Upgrading LDOM v1.3 to Oracle VM for Sparc 2.1.0.0.0

Hi, I have a question regarding the upgrade of LDOM v1.3 to Oracle VM for Sparc 2.1.0.0.0 The release notes indicate that I need to bring the release of the Solaris O/S to a minimum of Solaris 10 10/09 and there is recomended  patch to bring the kernel up to this release (patch  142909-17)

Now do I need to run live upgrade and upgrade from a DVD (or mounted iso image) or can I just use pkgadd on the downloaded patchset?
