READ ONLY Tablespaces

I have some large  tablespaces that I can now make read-only.     Once I do that, will RMAN delete these backup sets once the expire time is exceeded?

I want to keep the read only  backups around indefinatley.   The non read only I still want to expire after 30 days.

  I know I have to try it but I thought someone must have experience with this.

I am running Oracle 11.1 and 11.2.
