installing gui on linux

Help!  I've installed linux on my x4800 - which is not easy because Oracle decided not to put a dvd drive on the machine and they decided that I don't want a gui so it was not installed. 

I've configured the net - from the command line, but I can't seem to download the packages I need to run a gui.

Please help!
