Association of BSV to Legal Entities or Ledgers after Upgrade

Hello,

A quick question on Oracle R12 feature -


After upgrade, is it necessary to associate BSV to Legal Entities and/or Ledgers? Oracle documentation shows this as optional step, but recommended.

What would be the advice, given the fact that client was not using GIS before? What are pros/cons? Oracle Documentation says that it is needed for 'intercompany' transactions, but 'intracompany' transacitons from subledgers should still work without these associations. Since client was not using GIS before, want to check if this is really necessary to setup after upgrade.

 Any pointers would be appreciated.
