I'm a newbie and have been tasked with upgrading a 10.1.0.2.0 Windows 32-bit database installation to 11.2.0.1.0 Windows 32-bit installation.  Our database is relatively small and runs on vitural machines, so space shouldn't be much of an issue.  I believe I could use Data Pump Export and Import move the whole existing database to the new 11gR2 software installation.  My plan was to install 11gR2 and create a database with DBCA to test the installation.  After satisfactory test results, I would then use the Data Pump utility to move the existing database.  An alternative is to install the 11gR2 in a new
