Running 8.1.1.7 Tools on WINDOWS 2008 SP2 64 bit server for SIA upgrade from 8.0.0.1 to 8.1.1.7

Hi

We are about to start SIA 8.0.0.1 to SIA 8.1.1.7 upgrade.

We have a brand new environment with 2008 Sp2 64 bit machines.

My question is related to installing 8.1 tools on 2008 64 bit server and using it to run the upgrade process.

Is it possible?

As per Siebel documentation Siebel tools is not supported on 2008 64 bit machines but I have read on this community that there are a few projects done where 8.1 tools was installed and used on 2008 server to run the upgrade process without any issues.

If sombody can share first hand experience, critical steps and their gotcha's while doing the upgrade , it is appreciated.
