Invalid views

We are running  an Oracle database at 11.1.0.7 which we must remain at per our application restrictions.  each night we do a shutdown for a cold back up and restart the db when it's done.  Each day we have hundreds of invalid views all of which compile without error.  what could be the reason that these views go Invalid when they clearly are not.
