promise date on purchase order

Hello, we use "promise date" on purchase orders as a metric to measure on-time deleivery for the suppliers.  Sometime, we changed the promise date because of the business situation.  I wonder if there is way to flag it when that happened so that we would know that the date slip wasn't caused by the Supplier.  Thanks!
