SPFILE

Hi everyone,My oracle database 10.2.0.5.0 standard edition running on windows server 2008.
its a production database started with SPFILE and there is no problem since last 1 year.
But many DBA's told me always use PFILE to startup a database.I am so confuse.
plz tell me which of the file i use for startup and what are the benefits.
 
plz help me
