Oracle Offline On Demand Feature

Has anyone if used the "Oracle Offline On Demand" feature?  In your "My Setup", you can install software that allows you to work offline. You can review, edit, and create Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, tasks, and appointments while disconnected from the network. Does the system perform faster by this method?
