Full Database Exp/Imp

Hi Gurus,
  I have some production databases which will be upgraded to 11gR2 from 10gR2. Once the upgrade is completed I will change the compatible parameter only after another 7 days. Once the compatible parameter is changed, I know that I will not be able to downgrade my database if I face any issue. I think the only option is to do an Export/Import. Please let me know if there is any other option. Also please could you explain me the steps to do a full database level exp/imp in this case ? What all are the challenges/risks involved in this
