DBA Source of Calculation

Could anyone explain how does the Payroll DBA Source of Calculation '9' work (Alias DESQ)?  Source of Calculation 9 = RPP - CPP and is Canadian Payroll specific. 
My understanding is that this Source of Calculation would be the only way a DBA could have access to the amount of the Canadian Pension Plan deduction calculated exclusively by Vertex Quantum however I have not had any success using it and it does not return any value related to any Vertex CPP calculation.
