Upgrade 10.2.0.4 RAC database to 11.2.0.3

I have an Oracle 10.2.0.4 RAC database with Oracle CRS 10.2.0.4. I need to get this upgraded to 11.2.0.3. I know that I first need to upgrade Clusterware. And I had no problems upgrading Clusterware to GI 11.2.0.3. But when I tried to start the RAC database, I was unable to. I wish I had the error messages, but I lost my file where I saved these. I am going to try to set up an environment to test this again and hopefully get error message that I can use to hone in on the problem but until then....
I was also unable to create a 10.2.0.4 RAC database with the DBCA. The DBCA gave a message that it could not communicate with CRS. I had reinstalled the 10.2.0.4 RDBMS software as a cluster install on top of GI 11.2.0.3 and got the same issue.
