Hyperion 11.1.2 Client Compatibility with Hyperion 8.5 Server

I have a customer who is trying to load a Hyperion Client version 11.1.2 to gacilitate a Windows 7, 64B environment but they are trying to connect to a Hyperion 8.5 Server.  the client loaded fine but when it tries to synch/connect with the server, the system tries to install an earlier version of the client.  Will Hyperion 11.1.2 client work with an 8.5 server if they disable the version check? 

In order to upgrade the server to 11.1.2 there is also a requirement to upgrade the DB version, so they are attempting to buy time while the DB and Server are both updated and then the data merged.
