Can the Data Template Name be removed from the XML output string?

I am trying to generate a simple XML output. I am using a Data Template with some parameters, 2 sql queries, and a simple data structure. The data template is being called via a concurrent program to generate the XML string. This XML file is being provided to a 3rd party for uploading into their system. The XML output is putting the Data Template Name as the first XML Tag on the output which is causing the file upload on the 3rd parties site to fail. Is there a way to remove the Data Template Name tag from the output?
