Workflow - Update Contact Status After Activity Is Assigned

I was hoping someone might be able to give me a step-by-step process of how to create the following workflow:

I need the Status of a Contact to automatically update as soon as an Activity is created for the Contact. For example, many of our Contacts are listed as Inactive, yet I see some have had Activities added within the last year. I'd like to create a workflow/rule where as soon as a Contact is associated with an Activity, his/her Status is updated to show "Active".
