Customize Lead Copy

I am trying to create some fields that are not visible to a user and will hold some tracking details that are useful in reporting. So is there a way I can customize the copy functionality of Lead, so that when a user uses the Copy feature in CRM to copy a lead into a new lead record these hidden fields are part of that copy. So basically is it possible to customize what fields are copied when copy lead functionality is used by a user? Appreciate any help regarding this topic.
