oracle secure backup hardware compression

I would like to know if hardware compression is available through oracle secure backup 10.4.
My tape drive is in supported matrix and for verification i get hardware compression is on when i run lsdev -lvg.
Also as far as i know obtar is using compression by default .Additionally I try to add in default and policies in operations  section in backup option tab the  "-M compress:on "  but without success

The problem is when i run backup jobs never can exceed the tape limit size.In our case lto-4 the maximum uncompressed size is 800gb..am i doing .am i doing something wrong.Please advise.I didnt find something about compression in oracle documents.
