What is the role of Functional consultant in a Migration Project

in General Ledger - EBS (MOSC) Question
Can someone explain me the role of a financial functional consultant in a project where E-Business suite is being migrated from Windows to Unix.
Does Migration has an impact on Workflows, AME, or any customizations done in Windows Environment when it migrated to Unix?
