Sending Birthday Greetings via On Demand Marketing

As part of a Marketing Email Campaign strategy. we have a business that is interested in sending a "Happy Birthday" message from ODM to our clients.  We can store the Birthday date in CRM OD.  The Email would contain a simple Birthday message along with advertising of our products/promotions.

Has anyone used ODM for this type of strategy?
