calling hr_person_absence_api.create_person_absence API

Hi,
am using hr_person_absence_api.create_person_absence API to create an absence for a person. while executing this API, its creating absence for a person but not sending any notification mail to the approver for getting an approval.by default it creates an absence with APPROVED status.Please let me know how to call this API to create an absence record and then to send the notification to the supervisor.
