Solaris 10 receive zfs root pool failure URGENT!!

I have a working Solaris10 8/11 server with a mirrored root pool that I would like to use as a base image for several other servers (all the same architecture).  I created a root pool snapshot and exported it.  I boot the new server from the same Solaris 10 8/11 DVD and try to perform the zfs receive from the mounted snapshot but get the error:

# cat /mnt/rpool.rpool@05_25_2012 | zfs receive -Fduv rpool

cannot receive: stream has unsupported feature, feature flags = 0

I followed the procedure out of the "Recovering the ZFS Root Pool or Root Pool Snapshots" document on Oracle's site.

# mount xx.xx.xx.xx:/backups /mnt
