Very high CPU usage and a lot of time wasted (Linux and 10.2.0.1)

Environment : Oracle 10.2.0.1 on Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, x86_64.

I am facing very high CPU usage and the system is hanging; SQLPLUS could not connect and the only way is to reboot the server.

I know this is a bug fixed starting 10.2.0.x (maybe 10.2.0.2 or maybe higher).

But my question is : Is there any workaround in case I am not able to patch the database? Is there any interim patch that can fix just the CPU usage

on the 10.2.0.1 release
