Generating an Appointment from a Workflow

Hi,

Is there a way to generate an appointment from a workflow?  The only option appears to be is a task, but the task fields do not offer a Start/End time (only a due date).  As an alternative, sending triggering a calendar invite via email would work, but I'm not sure if that is an option either. Does anyone have any suggestions?
