Filesystem Block Size on AIX with GPFS

Hi All,

I am wanting to confirm on the following :

I have AIX 6.1 using Hitachi SAN . The Lun's are created with 256 block size. But the GPFS file system created on top is also created with the same block size i.e. 256.  I believe that this is correct.

However I have been provided with a documentation on GPFS which suggests that the filesystem block size be created at 512 for the datafiles. 

My questions :

1.  What is the impact of having the filesystem block size different from that of the  Disk ?

2. Can this be rectified at the Oracle level instead of making the chnge on the filesystem level ?
