Automated creation of configurations for item instances in IB

Dear all,

We are required to write a custom program that automatically creates configurations for all item instances that have been migrated from a legacy system into Oracle.

We would like some advice on the following:

1. What would be the ideal way of implementing such a program? Using standard IB APIs or through the Oracle Open Interface program?

2. For the suggested method, could you also point us to some useful documentation (ETRMs, sample code and such)?
