OEM 12c Cloud Control - Startup/Shutdown Procedure

Installed OEM 12c Cloud Control in AIX 64 Bit Environment.  Want to make sure I fully have startup/shutdown procedures, proper environments, etc.
We have this for existing 10g.

What, if any are the major differences with 12c.  

1.) Middleware
2.) ORACLE_UNIQNAME - Environment Variable

"Environment variable ORACLE_UNQNAME not defined. Please set ORACLE_UNQNAME to database unique name."


Note: I have the manuals(and granted only 2/3 through), I am looking for beyond the manuals, if that exists.
