Watch out for the following issue with ZFS and BEs: https://blogs.oracle.com/bobn/entry/var_tmp_and_live_upgrade

Bottom line: Don't abuse /var/tmp anymore, keep it clean, elect some other directory (perhaps /export/tmp).
