System Maintenance Best Practices

Does anyone know if Oracle has a White Paper on best practices of keeping Oracle Applications Technology (does this include security patches), and the individual modules up to date?  I know it is possible to go out and search for the latest critical patches for each module but if a customer had created a best practices doc then it would be a helpful template to follow.
