How does JDE generate a PDF, and what determines the version that gets created?

Hello,
I have a client currently running E1 8.0 TR 24.1.5, iSeries enterprise server, Windows deploy server.  The question is, how does JDE generate a PDF.  Where is the program located?  I assume on the deploy server?  With this last tools release upgrade, PDF's being generated are now version 1.4.  Where previously, they were version 1.3.  This change has affected a third party application that uses the PDF to generate logos, etc.  It doesn't work with these version 1.4 PDF's being generated by JDE.  Can this version issue be reversed without changing the tools release?
