Workflow to a role during holidays

I don't know if this is the correct community to place this question, but I think most of you have to deal with something similar.
My Workflow setup in ePro has a step to route to users with a certain role (buyers), to approve the requisition.
However when the user is placing an automated "Out of Office"-reply on the mailbox, the requestor is getting that OoO-email as a response and creates some confusion.
There are several options to resolve this:
- reassign the workflow to someone else, but all buyers are already in the list, so no need to do that.
