Upgrade vision install

My plan is to install vision on solaris 11. When I run into the issue noted on document 1459731.1, it seems like my only option is to upgrade the system to the current level. The E-business suite I installed was 12.1.1 and it came with 11.1.0.7 database I believe. Since this is my very first time upgrade the E-Business system, the document says I need to first upgrade the database to 11.2.0.3. That means I need to download the 11.2.0.3 and install it to a completely different oracle home and then do the upgrade right? I have upgraded standalone database before, just not sure the database part for the Ebiz will be upgraded the same way. Please advice. Thank
