What is ora_j001_sid used for?

I often saw ora_j000_sid and ora_j001_sid process out there. I am not sure what this is used for. My guess would be it is related to oracle internal jobs. I probably can find that out in dba_jobs. The question I am having is that we have a monitoring tool from QMX and the default setting is set to alert when the threshold is greater than 40. I am not sure What is greater than 40 means? The job is taking too long or some other meaning? Not sure what is the number 40 measures. Any gurus out there can comment
