Help Please: Error when opening a FR report that is connected to HFM - version 11.1.2.0

When trying to open an existing HFM report or create a new report via the FR client on a users machine : Failed to Connect to Server. Error connecting to database connection HFM: Server/Cluster is incorrectly configured.

If I go to the FR server and open FR, I can connect to HFM when opening or creating a report.

Also - does the HFM client need to be on the user's machine. We are pushing people to use Workspace to access HFM and don't want the client installed locally.
