Opinions wanted : Move to Single Server from Two Tier Architecture

Hi,

as part of the 12.1.3 upgrade I'm looking at migrating to a single node that handles everything, database, concurrent managers, report server, Forms and Apache. We currently employ a standard two node architecture. database + conc mgrs on one tier and forms + apache on the other.

My main reason for going down the single tier route is that I don't want to implement the shared appl top over NFS and without this all of my patching would require patching each server seperately. Also it would mean one less server to maintain and backup.

Are their any reasons you consider this would not be a sensible move?  The server is relatively new and has plenty of memory and cpu cores/threads so in theory is more than capable of running everything.
