Direct Migration from JD Edwards World A7.3 to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1

We are completing the install of E1/9.1.  We are now preparing to do the migration of our data from World a7.3 to E1/9.1.  After reading through the instructions I have a few concerns and questions.

Because our A7.3 is on an IBM iSeries we are running under OS V5R4.  E1 is setup and running under OS V7.1.  Each instance is on a different box.

My problem is this.  We cannot and do not have the time to "convert" the V5R4 instance to V7R1 so that we could move it to the same box as the new E1.  So, in order to do the conversion I would have to run the migration from the box that houses the current World version on V5R4.  the questions we have is can this be done and how is the connection made between the two systems?  Does it use
