R12 Non-shippable Order Lines Interfacing to Install Base (PTO Models)

Hi everyone,

i was wondering if anyone could answer the following: in R12 oracle provides this new functionality to have non-shippable items in install base through a profile which makes the PTO parent item automatically available in install base. (yes - finally!!! :-))

However, note 1057445.1 (All R12 Non-shippable Order Lines Interfacing to Install Base), says the following at the end:

For companies using Oracle Field Service to debrief this profile option needs to be set to 'N' to avoid duplicated updates.

So what i would like to know is: what does it mean "to avoid duplicate updates"? Why would Field Service update this?
