Flexfields at IB Instance party level

Hi,
I am trying to add Instance Party Flex Field on Item Association tab. Through personalization, I added a new 'Flex' type item and entered application short name, flex field name, and type (key/DFf). The field showed up on the screen for cases where there is no contact association. If there is a contact association record, then I get below error.

"JBO-25058: Definition Context of type Attribute not found in ContactVO1"

I am wondering if anyone has tried to enable instance party flex fields before.
