Generat MassAllocation Journals Form - Balancing Segment Value Field R12.1.3

Can someone please explain to me the additonal balancing segment value field that is now required on the Generate Mass Allocation Journals Form?  I have been told that this is the balancing segment override?  So will this field override the balancing segment value in my mass allocation? Should this be field represent the balancing segment value in the mass allocation?  Please Please explain as I need to explain to my client.  Thank you.
