Upgrade 11i(11.5.10) 32bit direct to 12i (R12.1.3) 64bit

We have been testing upgrading from EBS 11i 32bit to EBS 12i 64bit following the recommended path advised by Oracle:  http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B53825_05/current/acrobat/121upgrade.pdf

Basically, it is recommended to first upgrade to R12i on 32bit and then go from 32bit to 64bit because R11i is not certified on 64bit

This week I had separate conversations with 2 different DBA who told me they have upgraded from R11i 32bit directly to R12i 64bit

I just wanted to check if anyone in the community has had the experience for upgrading EBS R11i 32bit directly to R12i 64bit without the middle step of first going to 32bit R12? If so, could you please advise on any related posts or documentation.
