Switching from Full HR to Shared HR

Does anyone have experience with switching from Full HR to Shared HR?  Have financials running (for 2 years) with Full HR currently and need to switch to Shared HR (dropping HR/Pay).  What are the gotchas.....I found a white paper that says must setup a new instance of shared HR and "migrate all the data"?.......How would be my first question....help!
