Start/Stop ASAP Application Using Individual User IDs

Q: As a generic practice, all applications are installed by a generic user id and the same user id is used to start and stop applications.

Can individual user ids be used to start or stop application or does Oracle suggest to use the generic id with which installations are done to be used?


A: To support installation and running of ASAP, each ASAP environment that is created must have at least one dedicated UNIX ASAP group and one dedicated Unix ASAP user account within that group. You may choose to have additional ASAP users in the ASAP group, depending on your specific implementation. However, all UNIX users of ASAP must belong to this group. This group is required to coordinate access to files that are needed to develop and test ASAP.
