Primary Contact Address

Is there a way to modify the address layout to include the "Primary" Checkbox?  The field isn't marked read only in the Contact fields, but the only way I can see it is on the Contact page because I exposed it in the Contact's Address Related Information section.  How can I change this without going in and deleting & readding all of the contact addresses?  Some of our contacts has as many as 12 addresses we use to ship.  Thanks!
