Oracle client disconnects due to packet drop

I am connecting Oracle DB 11g server  through internet, but client get disconnected very frequently due to packet drops(internet disconnecttion). I have site to site VPN between server & client. Due to internet disconection, my application also geting disconnected. I have checked, for 2 to 3 ping timeout, it works fine. if it goes more than this it is getting disconnected and we need to login again. Is there anyway to increase this time out?
