How R11 Same Asset Number Upgrade to R12?

   Team,
While upgrading from R11.5.10 TO R12.1.3, how does the Instance Number (Asset Number) Popualate in R12?

I guess R11 Asset Number Becomes - Serial Number of R12

But where from Instance Number in R12 Comes? What is the Default mapping? and What are the other possibilities?

If we have Same Asset Numbers in Different Org of R11 then How will the upgrade be affected?
