How to mass update Project Home Page Layout on hundreds of active projects

For hundreds of active projects, the customer would like to use a new Project Home Page Layout post-upgrade to R12. What is the best methodology to perform this update?

So far, a new Project Home Page Layout has been created with a new name XX Project Home Any. This is a uniform layout to replace three separate project home layouts (simplification). The XX Project Home Any page layout has replaced the previous value on each active project template so that NEW projects will all use the latest uniform layout from this date forward.

However, what is the best methodology for updating the hundreds of active projects that have one of the obsolete three page layouts in their respective project setup options?
