Thoughs on changing the COA structure without re-implementing

Just wondering if anyone has either changed the structure of their Chart of Accounts without re-implementing or considerded doing so.  I'm currenlty evaluating softare companies such as Eprentise that allow you to do so in an Oracle supported manner.  Would love to hear feedback from others on this.  Did you move forward with the change?  If not, why?  How long did it take if you did?  any majore issues/concers?
