Why are there no floating currency symbols printed on reports?

edited Jul 6, 2012 3:26AM in JDEdwards World (MOSC)
There is one common subroutine that is used when printing most if not all reports. This is the C00161. The main purpose of this subroutine is to format numeric fields for output only. Therefore, no flotaing currency symbols can be handled by this subroutine as a symbol is not numeric. In the programming world, it is extremely difficult to add a dollar sign to a numeric field. Which is why software written in RPG and other languages do not print currency symbols.

Should you encounter a situation where currency symbols are required, BI Publisher is the tool of choice.  BI Publisher can be formatted as needed.  BI Publisher uses MS World to format the output. Since we do not store currency symbols, MS Word supplies the symbol and we supply the data.

Howdy, Stranger!
