I performed a current RMAN cold backup. Recovery failed on my test box. Usually the database is backup with a hot backup on friday and then incrementals during the rest of the week.

However when I tried to recover the hot backup with all the files for that week RMAN informed me that I need a archive log backup that was over 2 months old. So I decided to do a shutdown of the database and then performed a complete cold database backup. This I thought would backup everything so I could perform a recovery on my test box with just the files for that backup time. However this was not the case. RMAN is telling me that I need all the backup pieces that are over 2 months old.
