Prenote for 1st payroll, is it always used?

We are in Canada and do have Prenotes here, however, we do have US employees and as such, the Prenote flag is always on for the first pay.  Do US employers always leave the prenote to yes? and alllow that 1st payment always be a cheque?  If so, what kind of verification do you get from the bank if the information is good or not?

If not, how do you not have the 1st payroll be a cheque?  the only way we have figured it out is by doing a pre-payroll and then resetting the payroll at which time, OneWorld allows us to change the Prenote to N.
